People tend to come for readings when they are feeling stuck or don’t know what direction to take.  They may want to make a career change, find a relationship or become more spiritual but don’t know how to make it happen.  So they come for a reading. Often, the problem they are facing is because their Soul (or Higher Self) wants one thing and their Ego (the lower self) wants another.  Your soul will always try to move you in the direction of your highest good and the most growth.  Conversely, the Ego wants to keep you stuck in the status quo or keep you under it’s thumb by convincing you that you need to have more, be more and do more. Nothing is ever enough for the Ego. If you’ve ever experienced opening a packet of Tim Tams and not being able to have just one, you’ve experienced the strength the Ego has over you. You could say that the Soul and the Ego battle tirelessly for supremacy over your life. Sometimes Soul choices are harder because growth can be hard. If you’ve ever tried to have some self-discipline or will-power, you know exactly what I mean. It really is a battleground sometimes. Who will win? The ‘Angel’ or the ‘Devil’ on your shoulder?

Vicky has a fight with her husband and is left feeling angry and disempowered. Her Ego will whisper in her ear to go buy a new outfit, or have a few drinks, or go through McDonald’s drive through because it will soothe the Ego and make her feel better for a little while. The Ego wants instant gratification and hates waiting. Meanwhile, her Soul encourages her to go into the pain, make friends with it and transform it into Light. Perhaps Vicky is continuing a pattern from her childhood, one in which she was invalidated or ignored by a parent. Or perhaps she has never learned to stand up for herself and negotiate effectively through conflict. These are the kind of lessons our Soul tries to teach us. Your Soul is the part of you that is beyond the physical existence, the part that is immortal and eternal and is your connection to the Divine, to the All.
