Using the laws of attraction to move past a poverty consciousness

Q: I really love the principles of LOA, but I still struggle with having a poverty mentality that I have carried with me since childhood - the fear of not having enough and just barely making ends meet. How do I move past this?

Just keep doing your affirmations and keep your actions in line with them.

Do you have Louise Hay’s book called You Can Heal Your Life? I highly recommend it. There is another good book called ‘Affirmations’ by Stuart Wilde that is also excellent.

How does your poverty mentality manifest itself? Is it that you don’t feel there’s ever enough money? You could lose everything? You don’t want to spend?

We all have stuff we need to re-program. I have no doubt that you can do it too. Money stuff is usually linked with ’survival’ issues. I also found Inner Child work very helpful with overcoming various fears and I had to get used to the idea of HAVING money.

I still have money issues but these days it’s about managing it well rather than not having it, which is definitely growth.

I just thought of another book - The Trick TO Money Is Having Some also by Stuart Wilde.

The other thing about money is that it is tangible example of your own energy. Lack of money or badly managed money is a reflection of what is happening with your own energy. Why? Because we exchange money for our energy every payday. It’s the currency of the earth plane in both dollars and personal energy.

Honestly, I don’t think that the ability to spend more on consumer goods is a mark of spiritual advancement or even not having a poverty mentality. We will never have enough - enough money, enough time, enough love etc. The key is to be content with what we have and to have simple needs.

If you have a lifestyle that can be supported on $2,000 a month, it’s much easier to attract that amount of money into your life through some avenue other than the 9-5 slog than a lifestyle that costs $20,000 a month to maintain. Of course you can have the $20,000 a month lifestyle, but have to raise your energy to the level where you can make it happen first.

Feeling ok about what you have now is the first step on the path to having more. Appreciate everything - open your wardrobe and appreciate all your clothes and shoes you have now. Appreciate your furniture, the roof over your head, bless your bills when they come in bec it means you have hot water, power, heat etc. A deep and true gratitude for what you have now is essential to moving past what you have now. The more you resent something, or try and push it away, the more it will hang around.
